The Prayer Blanket Ministry of St. Joachim/St. Joseph’s Catholic Church began in the parish in May 2010. A prayer blanket is a lap covering or a shoulder w
rap that is sewn, knitted or crocheted and given as a sign that the recipient is “in our prayers.” The blankets are made prayerfully with the intentions of the receiver in mind. Each month blankets are blessed during a parish liturgy.
Blankets /shawls are given to people who need our support in any way. There is no cost, or limit on who may request a blanket. People of any denomination may request a blanket. Those who are sick, grieving the loss of a loved one, recovering from an operation, or distressed, depressed, whatever the need, and regardless of church affiliation. Donations of supplies, or monies for supplies, are accepted.
